Report on YIDM 2013, Singapore

YIDM 2013, Singapore. (18th – 20th October 2013)

Yokomo International Drift Meet is in its 3rd year and has gained general popularity among RC drifters in this region.  The event is viewed as the biggest RC Drift event in the region with spectacular racing and professional judging.

YIDM 2013 has attracted close to 70 participants from Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia.  This is the 1st time the event closed to YOKOMO chassis only.  It is intended to promote YOKOMO products to RC drifters in the region to commensurate the RC Drift development effort by YOKOMO Japan.

The event was held in Kovan Community Center in Singapore.  It is a very nice neighborhood with restaurants and shopping within walking distance.  Participants, especially for foreigners, are able to get around the area for meals and such.  MRT station is within 5 minute walking distance.  The surface for the track was tiles.  It is different from the surface of previous events and proved to be a challenge to all Drifters.  It is definitely a new experience.

We have the privilege to receive Mr. Takahiro Ueno and Mr. Masami Hirosaka as our guest judges again for the event.  Their experience and professionalism were a great features and highlight of the event.

It was a 3 full-day-drifting for the participants.  Ah Yeong, an experienced Singapore RC Drifter, emerged as the overall winner.  The results are as follows:

Expert Class:

Winner: Hakimo (Singapore)
1st runner-up: Azwan (Malaysia)
2nd runner-up: Jerry Leow (Singapore)

Super Expert Class:
Winner: Ah Yeong (Singapore)
